Role Summary
The EV Installation Project Manager is a strategic position responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of electrical projects, specifically EV installations for commercial, multi-family and residential properties. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will play a leading role in COIL’s delivery of services and continued growth in a key market. You’ll organize meetings with colleagues and customers, attend site visits with project stakeholders, and ensure that jobs are completed on time.

 

As the primary stakeholder for all the projects in your region, you will ensure that everyone else involved knows their duties and completes them. You’ll be responsible for scheduling projects, tracking activities and managing documentation. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys problem-solving and working independently. This role is 75% office / 25% on-site, with some regional travel (2-4 weeks/year expected). You should be detail-oriented, comfortable collaborating with a remote team, and capable of communicating with internal and external stakeholders effectively through email and project management software.

 

While no two days will end up looking the same, generally speaking you’ll be responsible for the following things: 

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects in Northern California, primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area

  • Set schedules, keep projects on track, and ensure milestones are reached along the way

  • Track project costs to ensure budget adherence and be accountable for target profit margins

  • Provide thorough documentation and communication about project details at each stage

  • Coordinate internally with Sales/Accounts, Estimating, Solution Design, Permitting, Operations, and Accounting teams

  • Coordinate externally with clients, on-site contacts, contractors, permit inspectors, utilities, and equipment suppliers

  • Schedule and manage kick-off meetings with customers and other stakeholders

  • Be on location to conduct pre-construction walks, monitor project progress, and perform QA for project closeout

  • Support the permitting process and attend inspections to ensure projects pass

  • Update project stakeholders & management concerning project details and deliverables

  • Provide feedback to support continual refinement of processes and procedures

  • Track and manage key high value inventory such as EV chargers, switchgear, transformers, etc. 

  • Conduct administrative duties, such as setting up meetings, drafting invoices and drawing estimates & change orders

  • Support Regional & Senior Project Managers in general operational duties

What You Need for this Position

  • 1+ years in project management

  • 1+ years in electrical or construction

  • Demonstrated interest in EVs / renewable energy

  • Experience in a startup or similar environment

  • Ability to manage construction subcontractors

  • Proficiency in project management software

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Drivers license and good driving record

  • Willingness to travel as needed (est. 2-4 weeks/year)

  • Knowledge of the EV industry is a plus
